Strange Desire: An INXS Experience

Get Caught Up in the Vibe.

From the heart of Richmond, Virginia comes Strange Desire, a pulse-pounding, black-white-and-red celebration of the global phenomenon known as INXS. This isn’t a nostalgia act — it’s a seductive, high-octane house party of sound, swagger, and soul, where the beats are undeniable and the anthems hit harder than ever.

Leading the charge is Schiavone McGee, the longtime dynamic frontman and powerhouse voice of national recording artists Fighting Gravity (formerly Boy O Boy). With his magnetic stage presence and fiery charisma, McGee commands the mic and the crowd, channeling the essence of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence while delivering every note with his own unmistakable style and grit.

Riding shotgun is Eric Lawson, a Richmond legend and sonic architect whose mastery of the Hammond organ, clavinet, electric piano, and analog synth creates the lush, hypnotic textures that define the INXS sound. Also a member of Fighting Gravity, Eric’s fingerprints can be found across Richmond’s best stages with bands like Clampdown (a tribute to The Clash), Flat Elvis, and The Usual Suspects.

On drums, Jody Boyd — musician, producer, mixer, engineer, and owner of Red Amp Audio — keeps the groove steady, honest, and deep in the pocket. A veteran of countless sessions and live shows, Jody is the heartbeat behind the band, blending precision with pure pulse.

Guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Dave Hunter brings serious fire and finesse to the stage. Known for his work with The Limit, Suburban Key Party, Fun House, and his solo acoustic projects across Central Virginia, Dave is also the founder of Fans of Virginia Craft Breweries — and the one who brought bassist Steve Wetzler into the Strange Desire fold.

Steve Wetzler, also of Fun House and Deputy Dan – A Steely Dan Experience, lays down bass lines that make you move before you even realize it. Tight, tasteful, and full of groove, Steve locks it all together and drives the rhythm straight to your hips.

Rounding out the sound is Brendan Yerian on saxophone, vocals, and percussion — the band’s secret weapon and wild card. A member of Abrams Bridge (a Bruce Springsteen tribute), Brendan adds the sultry brass and soaring harmonies that push the show from great to unforgettable.

Together, this band of brothers transforms the timeless anthems of INXS — from the seductive Need You Tonight and the explosive New Sensation to the cinematic sweep of Never Tear Us Apart and the rallying cry of Don’t Change — into a living, breathing experience that feels as fresh and vital as ever.

Strange Desire: An INXS Experience is more than a show — it’s a fever dream of rhythm, soul, and sound.
A night where you remember every song you forgot you loved.
A vibe you can’t escape.
A satisfaction guaranteed.

Get caught up in the vibe… or hear about it later. Either way, Strange Desire will satisfy. Period.
